At the turn of the millennium, the galaxy-spanning Nerongan Republic is at a crossroads. While an economy centered on war and slavery has seen untold profits, protests and mass strikes across the solar system shakes the very core of the fascist empire whilst brutal crackdowns threatens to tear worlds apart. As tensions escalate a deep space probe discovers a strange energy source with immeasurable power emanating from a planet in the farthest reaches of the galaxy. A plan is devised to harness that power for the Republic in the hopes that it may stabilize the empire once and for all, but there's a catch; scientists believe the planet is inhabited by a large species entering the medieval era. The primary fear is that these fragile primitives may be in control of this resource, meaning that a more surgical approach is necessary. The empire quickly assembles a task force, the mission: subjugation. Behind the scenes money is exchanged, palms are greased, and a small yet influential space exploration company named STARPAINTERS is awarded the contract. After some planning the invasion fleet - a single super-powered life form aboard just one small ship - is dispatched to much public celebration. If successful, the strength of Neronga's advanced technology combined with the ultimate power shall see the universe itself held in an permanent stranglehold by the Republic, with nothing outside the empire's grasp. But should the mission fail the results will be cataclysmic, potentially pushing an already disintegrating society past the divide of no return...
